There’s been a lot of attention paid to the Universal Studios theme park that’s planned for Frisco Fields on the edge of Prosper.
That’s great for Frisco, and we cheer the city’s ongoing success.
But while lots of people are buzzing about what’s going on at the far end of the Dallas North Tollway, a quieter development story is unfolding south of Interstate 30 that should be getting your attention, too.
It’s not about a single site; it’s about a decadeslong effort around one of the greatest opportunities this region has for growth: southern Dallas.
Our colleague Steve Brown reported last week that Village West Dallas Development has taken 430 acres in Mountain Creek at the intersections of Interstate 20 and Spur 408 that we hope to see become a vibrant community of different types of homes.
Another 30-acre site will likely become apartments.
But it’s not just about housing. It’s also about making sure southern Dallas develops as a dynamic, lasting place with great public amenities.
